ต้อนรับสู่พื้นที่ลองเล่นของโครงการใช้ได้

‘ใช้ได้’ ตั้งต้นมาจากการสะท้อนถึงอำนาจของคำที่เรา ‘ใช้’ กันในศิลปะร่วมสมัยไทย คำไหนใช้อย่างไร แปลว่าอะไร ใช้โดยใคร ส่งต่อมาจากไหน เราทุกคนในฐานะผู้ใช้คำเหล่านี้อยู่ในสถานะไหนบ้างเมื่อเผชิญหน้ากับอำนาจต่างๆ หากคำนั้นเป็นเรื่องการเมืองโดยเสมอ เราจะร่วมกันเขียนคำใหม่ขึ้นมาได้หรือไม่ ควรหรือเปล่า เขียนไปเพื่ออะไร เพื่อใคร และคำถามอื่นใดอีกมากมายที่แวดล้อมการ ‘ใช้’ นี้

โครงการใช้ได้ดำเนินงานตั้งแต่เดือนกรกฎาคม 2024 ถึงเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2026 ตลอดการเดินทางนี้ ผู้ใช้จำนวนมากได้เดินเข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของขบวน ผ่านการลองเล่นลองใช้ จนปรากฎออกมาเป็นหนังสือแปลสู่ปทานุกรมความเป็นผู้ใช้งาน คลังคำจากพื้นที่ต่างๆในไทยจำนวน 500 กว่าคำ และซีนใช้ได้ที่นำเอาคำจากคลังนั้นมาเป็นจุดตั้งต้นในการทำงานต่อไป

เว็บไซต์นี้เป็นพื้นที่ทดลองเล่นไม่รู้จบ เราได้รวบรวมผลงานที่ปรากฎมาจากแรงของผู้ใช้ทุกท่านไว้ในที่นี้ รวมถึงพัฒนาระบบทดลองเล่นกับคำในคลังคำที่ยังเปิดรับความเห็นและเรื่องราวของทุกท่านที่ผ่านมาเยือนพื้นที่นี้

ขบวนผู้ใช้อาจเดินมาถึงจุดหมายแรกแล้ว แต่เรายังรอให้ท่านพาเราไปจุดหมายต่อไปอยู่ มาร่วมกำหนดเส้นทางเดินไปด้วยกันต่อผ่านการ ‘ใช้งาน’ เว็บไซต์นี้

Welcome to the Chai Dai playground.

‘Chai Dai’ (meaning both ‘usable’ and ‘it works’) originated from a reflection on the power of the words we ‘use’ within Thai contemporary art. How is a word used, and what meaning does it hold? Who uses it, and where did it originate? In what capacity do we stand as users of these words when confronted by various forms of power? If language is inherently political, can we—or should we—collectively write new words? For what purpose, for whom, and what other questions surround this act of ‘usage’?

The Chai Dai project ran from July 2024 to February 2026. Throughout this journey, a great number of users joined our procession, engaging through play and practice until the project manifested as a Thai translation of Stephen Wright’s Towards of Lexicon of Usership, a word repository featuring over 500 terms gathered from various regions across Thailand, and the Chai Dai zines, which use those words as a springboard for further creative work.

This website is an infinite playground. We have gathered the works born from the collective energy of all our users here, while also developing an experimental system for the word repository that remains open to the insights and stories of everyone who visits this space.

The procession of users may have reached its first destination, but we are still waiting for you to lead us toward the next. Let’s continue to map out our journey together through the ‘usage’ of this website.
